EdTech Links - Week of 4-27-2026

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

One way I share these is here on the blog in these "EdTech Links of the Week" posts. See below to explore the latest batch of resources, and be sure to share with others who may benefit.

If you want to make sure you don't miss new resources, you can:

And as always, please let me know of any resources that you recommend. I would love to learn from you!

This week I have 4 resources from around the Internet and 3 resources from my blog.

๐Ÿ“ฐ What's New in Google for April 2026

Keeping up with Google updates can be taxing, but we’ve done the heavy lifting and crunched the numbers (or, features) on the latest Google updates from April. No need to file a Chrome extension. Just claim your credit for staying in the loop with our guide to everything we learned at the last GEG-Ohio meeting.

๐Ÿงณ Transfer your Gmail and Drive with Google Takeout for Schools

With the end of the school year fast approaching (how is that possible?!) now is a good time to re-share one of my posts and videos from the past on Google Takeout for Schools
  • For educators who are retiring or moving to a new school district
  • For students who are graduating
  • Google Takeout for Schools is a free and easy way to move a copy of all your school Gmail and Google Drive files to a different account.
  • Check out my post and tutorial video with detailed directions.

๐Ÿ’Ž New EduGems

Each week I try to add new Gems to my EduGems website. Since last newsletter the site has now reached 133 Gems! Below are the newest ones added to the site:
  • ๐Ÿ“… Conference Concierge - Navigate a conference catalog to build a personalized, conflict-free itinerary that perfectly matches your needs, roles, and interests
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Form Analyzer - Analyze, summarize, and draw actionable conclusions from data collected via surveys, polls, registrations, or evaluations
  • ⚡️ Micro-Inquiry Sparks - Design short, highly engaging "Micro-Inquiry" activities that put student curiosity and productive struggle ahead of direct instruction

⭐ Constellation Draw

Over the years I have shared many of the interactives from the neal.fun website such as "The Size of Space", "The Deep Sea", "Space Elevator", "Size of Life" and more. Once again the site is back with another interactive tool that looks like a great option for schools.

The new tool is Constellation Draw which allows the user to create and name their own constellations. Here are the basics:
  • You can drag your mouse to scroll all around the night sky.
  • By default the existing constellations will be displayed, but you can toggle them off.
  • You can then click on any stars to connect them with a line and start creating your own constellation.
  • If you make a mistake you can always click on a line to remove it.
  • When done you can right click and type in the name for your creation.
This could be a great cross-curricular activity for science, social studies, and language arts where students create a new constellation and then write the mythology behind it. For example, you may see Orion the hunter, but I definitely see Felis Minor the space cat!

๐Ÿ“œ Talkie - AI from 1930

When it comes to AI, we are usually looking for the chatbot with the most up to date information possible. Talkie is the complete opposite. It is a new chatbot that is literally old.

Talkie is a "vintage language model" that has been exclusively trained on historical text from before 1931. In short, it knows nothing past 1930. You can chat with Talkie to see what it would be like to talk to an AI from almost 100 years ago.

This is a fascinating tool that could be used in many interesting ways:
  • Students can interview Talkie to see its perspective from 1930, with no influence of knowledge from the last 100 years. Please keep in mind this means there could be responses that would be inappropriate by modern standards, so I would recommend using this with older students and being involved in the conversation.
  • We can also ask Talkie to try to predict events and changes over the last 100 years to explore the ability of AI to draw such conclusions. This might give us some insight into how traditional AI may be able to make predictions for our future.
I asked Talkie to write an essay predicting what life will be like in the year 2026, which you can see below.

๐Ÿ‘€ Seek-and-Finds

Brain breaks can be a helpful diversion for students and adults alike. I recently came across a great website full of creative and engaging "Seek-and-Find" activities. Basically these are highly detailed illustrations where the task is to identify a handful of special features. For example:
The website is from the artist Gergely Dudรกs and contains over 10 years of such puzzles.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ TeachAid

Are you tired of AI tools that only generate one-off worksheets and leave you to stitch the rest together? Meet TeachAid, an AI-powered curriculum platform built specifically for K-12 teachers.
  • ๐Ÿ—ƒ️ Instead of fragmented resources, TeachAid builds complete, hyper-local curriculum units end-to-end in minutes.
