Below is a list of sessions I will be presenting at MACUL 2018, along with any associated resources. Please feel free to join me for any of these sessions. I look forward to sharing, learning, and chatting with you!

  • Session Description: Moving to Google Apps brings lots of benefits, but what about all your old Microsoft Office files? You may have years and years of valuable documents, slideshows, and spreadsheets that you still need to access, edit, and use. In this session we will show how to upload all your existing MS Office files to Drive, and then three options for using those files. First, the MS Office Google Drive plugin to edit your files with Office while still storing them in Drive. Second, the Office Editing for Docs, Sheets & Slides Chrome extension to do light editing of the files online. Third, converting the files into Google formats. Find the options that work best for you and see how MS Office and Google Drive can live in harmony!

  • Room: Ballroom D
  • Session Resources: http://www.controlaltachieve.com/differentiation
  • Session Description: Google Classroom is much more than just a way to distribute, collect, and organize student work. When used to the fullest, Classroom can be a powerful tool for differentiation for your students. In this session we will look at how to use Classroom features to differentiate at each stage of a project: beginning, middle, and end. We will cover who the students are, how the students learn, and what the students make.

Beyond the Slideshow
  • Friday, March 9, 2018
  • 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Room: Ballroom D
  • Session Resources: http://www.controlaltachieve.com/slides
  • Session Description: We all know Google Slides is a great tool for making multimedia slideshows. But did you know it can also be used to make "Choose Your Own Adventure" style stories, interactive quizzes, online comic strips, storybooks, stop-motion animation, manipulatives, and more? With the ability to link to specific slides and go to different slides depending on the choice, students can create online interactive stories. And with the many graphics tools in Google Slides, students can create online comic strips and tell stories, express understanding of content, give reports, and be creative. Learn how students can use Google Slides to express themselves in more ways than just a presentation.
