My 2018 Great Plains Summit Sessions

I am excited and honored to present at the 2018 Great Plains Summit in Lincoln, Nebraska this July 12th and 13th!

I always look forward an opportunity to see old friends, make new friends, share some ideas, and learn so many new things from others.

Below is a list of sessions I will be presenting at the 2018 Great Plains Summit, along with any associated resources. Please feel free to join me for any of these sessions. I look forward to sharing, learning, and chatting with you!

Thursday, July 12th

  • Google Tools for Struggling Students

    Description: There are many Google tools, apps, extensions, and features available to assist struggling learners or students with special needs. These include text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and apps that aid readability, reading comprehension, organization, focus and more. Learn what tools are available and how to access and use them with students. 

  • Holy Sheets: Google Sheets Activities for all Subjects

    Description: Google Sheets is not just a tool for crunching numbers. It is a powerful tool for learning, inquiry, exploration, and inspiration in any subject area. In this session we will take a look at several practical activities for a wide range of content areas including random writing prompts, flash cards, educational games, student-created learning databases, art and creativity, and of course analyzing data to draw conclusions and make predictions.

  • Hipster Google - Tools You've Probably Never Heard Of

    Description: Learn about lesser-known Google tools for that you can use in the classroom inlcuding nGram, Google Trends, AutoDraw, Toontastic, Smarty Pins, Poly, Meme Buddy, Mystery Animal, Science Journal, Semantris, Grasshopper, Art Palette & much more!

  • Supercharge Google Docs with Drawings
    7/12 - 3:00-3:50pm - Location: Room E

    Description: You can't do that in Docs! If you have ever made this claim, you may not be taking advantage of everything Docs can do. Built into Docs is Google Drawings, a tool that can add more features and make Docs more interactive. See how you and your students can use the integrated Drawings option in Docs to add playable videos, insert text boxes, add captions to images, embed graphic organizers, add interactive activities, provide a whiteboard area for student work, and more.

  • Google Tour Builder for any Subject

    Description: Google's Tour Builder is an easy to use but powerful tool for students to create virtual tours, including locations, images, videos, descriptions, hyperlinks, and more. These tours can be used in any subject area such as retelling the events from a novel, tracing the locations of a historical event, visiting different biomes or landforms around the world, and more. Tours can be viewed by others in Tour Builder, or even imported into Google Earth for a full 3D experience. Learn how you and your students can make and take virtual tours with Google Tour Builder.

  • Supercharge Google Slides with Add-Ons

    Description: Google Slides is already pretty awesome, but with free Add-Ons you can make it even awesome-er! Learn how to find, install, use, and manage Add-Ons for Slides including tools for finding and inserting free images, creating a photo slideshow from a Drive folder, creating interactive presentations with Pear Deck, batch formatting of text and images, and more.
