EdTech Links - Week of 4-28-25

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

One way I share these is here on the blog in these "EdTech Links of the Week" posts. See below to explore the latest batch of resources, and be sure to share with others who may benefit.

If you want to make sure you don't miss new resources, you can:

🤯 Upcoming Webinar - Chromebooks Can Do That?! Essential Features for Teachers and Students

Chromebooks have become a common tool in schools, but are you and your students getting the most out of them? I am excited to be providing an upcoming webinar on Wednesday, May 14th at 3-4 PM ET (2-3 CT) hosted by Trafera where we will take a deep dive into Chromebook features, some of which may be lesser-known. See the link above for all the details and the link to register for free.

🧳 Transfer your Gmail and Drive with Google Takeout for Schools

With the end of the school year fast approaching (how is that possible?!) now is a good time to re-share one of my posts and videos from the past on Google Takeout for Schools
  • For educators who are retiring or moving to a new school district
  • For students who are graduating
  • Google Takeout for Schools is a free and easy way to move a copy of all your school Gmail and Google Drive files to a different account.
  • Check out my post and tutorial video with detailed directions.

🍪 Digital Snacks
  • My friend Tony Vincent recently shared a wonderful collection of resources he is calling "Digital Snacks".
  • These are online interactives that are free, do not require any login, and require low preparation to use in your class.
  • These can be great to integrate into your lessons or to use as beneficial activities when students have some extra time.
  • There are over 100 resources in Tony's collection, which he has arranged in categories including physical, cognitive, relaxing, social, humor, sensory, and creative.

🥋 Kung Fu Quiz
  • Kung Fu Quiz is a free online quiz-making platform that allows transforming YouTube videos into interactive video quizzes.
  • You can add questions in several formats including single answer question, multiple answer question, drag words into box, fill in the blanks, and sort sentence.
  • You can also deliver the quizzes in three modes including game mode, assessment mode, and feedback mode.
  • Students join quizzes with the unique Dojo Code or link provided by the teacher and learn with interactive YouTube videos and quizzes.
  • Teachers are then provided with data-driven insights that are effective for monitoring student progress.

🤝 "AI Trust You" Google Docs add-on

I share a lot about addressing concerns about cheating with AI in my session "Did a Robot Write this Report? Managing AI Cheating". I recently came across this new addon that I will definitely be including in my session going forward.

"AI Trust You" is a free Google Docs add-on designed to address uncertainty around AI use in the classroom. It aims to foster transparency, trust, and open dialogue between teachers and students regarding AI in assignments.

For Teachers the addon allows you to clearly define if students can use AI on a specific assignment, lets you specify which AI techniques are permissible (categorized as Content Creation, Content Understanding, Research Assistance, Audio-Visual Generation), and generates clear guideline text that can be easily added to assignment instructions.

For Students the addon provides a simple way to document their AI use. Students select the AI tool(s) used, identify the techniques employed, and estimate the percentage of AI assistance. The addon generates a citation/statement detailing their AI use, which can be pasted into their assignment.

🎯 StarQuiz

We all know teaching has changed since the pandemic. With shortened attention spans, AI distractions, and widening learning gaps, the hardest part of teaching today is seeing whether real learning is happening before it’s too late to make a difference.

StarQuiz, backed by UC San Diego's Wavemaker Labs, addresses this. It provides teachers clear, real-time insights into student comprehension and confusion, allowing for timely instructional adjustments before misconceptions deepen. Using AI, StarQuiz transforms your lessons into formative assessments. Students get immediate feedback and practice, while teachers receive actionable insights without added workload.

A/B tests show students using StarQuiz demonstrate deeper, earlier understanding and outperform peers.

If you haven’t tried it yet, that’s because StarQuiz is only available through institutional licenses. But for a limited time, and exclusively for Control Alt Achieve readers, you can get full access for free by signing up with the code ACHIEVE.

Discover how StarQuiz delivers faster, smarter formative practice. Visit starquiz.ai to learn more or schedule a demo.
