EdTech Links - Week of 8-4-25

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

One way I share these is here on the blog in these "EdTech Links of the Week" posts. See below to explore the latest batch of resources, and be sure to share with others who may benefit.

If you want to make sure you don't miss new resources, you can:

And as always, please let me know of any resources that you recommend. I would love to learn from you!

This week I have 4 resources from around the Internet and 3 resources from my blog.

🤞 "Two Truths and a Lie" - AI Prompt

“Two Truths and a Lie” is a classic game you can play with your students to see if they can guess which of your three statements is false. This can be a great way to build critical thinking and subject area knowledge. To help with this I have put together a prompt that you can use with your favorite AI chatbot to create an interactive “Two Truths and a Lie” game for any topic and any grade.

Check out my blog post linked above where you can get your own copy of the prompt to edit and use however you want, as well as watch a short walkthrough video to show how it works.

🤿 World Snorkl Day 2025 - Recorded Videos

As many of you probably know, Snorkl is one of my favorite educational AI tools. It provides personalized feedback for students' spoken and hand-drawn responses to your questions.

This summer I had the privilege to be a part of World Snorkl Day once again. This was a free live streamed PD event with six hours of sessions to help you learn, explore, and apply Snorkl in your classroom.

This year I got to provide the closing session on "Level Up All Learners with Snorkl" where we did a deep dive into how Snorkl can support all students with feedback, personalized learning, accessibility, and more.

You can watch the 30-minute recording of my session, as well as access all the other recorded sessions from the event at the link above.

💻 CFISD Digital Learning Day Videos

For the last 8 years I have had the chance to present sessions for the Digital Learning Day hosted by the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Texas. This is a free online conference which is open to everyone. If you missed the live event, they are kind enough to leave the recordings up for a few weeks afterwards. I am not sure how much longer these will be up, so I encourage you to check out my two recorded sessions if they sound interesting to you:

😜 Adobe Express Meme Generator

I have shared about meme creation tools in the past as a fun and creative way for students to define a vocabulary word, explain a science concept, give an opinion on a historic event, illustrate a theme from a novel, and more. Adobe has recently launched a new meme design tool that is completely free for anyone to use.
  • The tool includes a massive collection of meme templates, although you can also just start with a blank canvas.
  • You can then edit the text for the meme to convey your idea.
  • As needed you can pull from Adobe's collection of images, design assets, and fonts to further customize your creation.
  • Finally you can download your meme to share however you like.
You can access this new meme tool and start creating at the link above.

🪲 Camouflage Evolution in Bugs

I came across this intriguing simulation that will be great for science classrooms in particular (or for anyone with an interest in educational simulations in general). Basically it is a "game" where you try to click on bugs to get rid of them, but actually end up learning about how natural selection works. Here is a description from the site:

You are a predator hunting bugs. Eat them by hovering your mouse over them (or tapping if on mobile). Your hunger timer counts down constantly, and you’ll need to keep eating to survive. In about 1-3 minutes of playing, you'll see the bug population evolve a camouflage strategy. It's a classic survival of the fittest situation - the bugs that are harder to see against the background image will tend to survive and procreate.

You can change the background and adjust lots of settings if desired. I found this to be a great example of how technology can be used to teach a concept by making it interactive and engaging.
