Beyond the Slideshow: Google Slides Activities for all Subjects

Description: We all know Google Slides is a great tool for making multimedia slideshows. But did you know it can also be used to make "Choose Your Own Adventure" style stories, interactive quizzes, online comic strips, storybooks, stop-motion animation, manipulatives, formative feedback in class, peer editing activities, and more? In this session we will explore these and more non-traditional uses of Slides. Learn how students can use Google Slides to express themselves in more ways than just a presentation.

In this session we will explore powerful Chromebook features including screen capture and screen recording, using the camera for photos, videos, and scanning documents, helpful keyboard shortcuts, managing multiple desks, extending your capabilities with Android apps, offline access for Drive, Gmail, and Calendar, built-in accessibility tools, and more!

Making and Taking Tours with Google Earth

Time: 8:00am - 8:50am CST (9:00am - 9:50am EST)
Description: Google Earth isn't just for viewing our wonderful world, but can also be used for you and your students to create educational tours. With the Voyager tool you can explore hundreds of pre-made tours and activities. With the Project tool you can create your own tours by plotting points on the globe to make a 3D geographic tour of a story, historical event, interesting locations, or any concept you are exploring in class. Each location can include additional text, images, videos, links, and more. Learn how you and your students can create, collaborate, and share these Google Earth tools!

Hipster Google - Tools You Probably Never Heard Of

Time: 9:00am - 9:50am CST (10:00pm - 10:50pm EST)
Description: Everyone knows about Google Docs, Gmail, Search, and other common Google tools. But there are also loads of smaller, lesser-known, but powerful tools that can be used for teaching and learning. Learn about 70+ hidden gems such as nGram, Trends, AutoDraw, Chrome Music Lab, Toontastic, Landlines, Meme Buddy, Reverse Image Search, Instant Search Cards, Semantris, Grasshopper, Art Palette, Timelapse, Data GIF Maker and more (List subject to change based on how cool and unknown the tools remain.)
