EdTech Links of the Week - 2-27-23

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

  • Free gamified practice tool from the makers of Pear Deck
  • Independent practice and collaborative games
  • Create your own Practice Sets or use those from the Public Library
  • Customized avatars, gamification, feedback, and rewards for student motivation

🗺️ TeachersFirst Reading Treks

  • A free collection of virtual field trips based on a piece of literature or text, from grades K through 12.
  • Each includes a Google Maps file (in KMZ format) that can be opened in Google My Maps or Google Earth, with loads of locations, images, videos, text, and more.
  • Each includes an instructional strategy handout (in PDF format) with activities and resources.

📜 Untold

  • Untold is a free collection of short, compelling videos that bring American history to life through the examination and exploration of people, politics, objects, the arts and more.
  • Untold shines a light on the stories that don’t always make it into the classroom.
  • New videos are released every week.

As part of my job at SPARCC in North Canton, Ohio, I help run a free educational technology conference each year. This year the conference will be both in-person and virtual, and will be held on July 18, 2023.

🐟 Dr. Seuss "One Fish, Two Fish" Activity
  • With the birthday of Dr. Seuss coming up this week (March 2nd) I wanted to reshare one of my classic templates for "Read Across America" activities.
  • This "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" Google Slides template lets students explore the concepts of sorting items by conditions in a Venn Diagram.
