EdTech Links - Week of 4-13-2026

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

One way I share these is here on the blog in these "EdTech Links of the Week" posts. See below to explore the latest batch of resources, and be sure to share with others who may benefit.

🎧 Podcast Spotlight - LinkedUp Podcast

I recently had the pleasure to be a guest on the "LinkedUp Podcast" hosted by Jerri Kemble and Jamie Saponaro. We chatted about AI in education, the impact of teachers on students, the power of sharing resources, thoughts on overcoming challenges, and much more.

Click the link above to listen to the episode, access the resources that I shared in the episode, and explore more about the podcast.

🎲 Upcoming Webinar: AI Games, Interviews and Activities for Student Learning

I have another webinar coming up where we will explore using AI as an interactive partner for learning activities and games. These can be done with any grade level and any subject, either as whole-class activities where the teacher manages the AI but the students still participate, or with students individually interacting with the AI for their own learning experiences. Details for this training:
  • 🎲 AI Games, Interviews and Activities for Student Learning
  • 🗓️ Tuesday, April 21st, 2026
  • ⏰ 3pm ET / 2pm CT / 1pm MT / Noon PT
  • ▶️ The webinar will be live-streamed and also recorded for those who can't attend live

💎 New EduGems

Each week I try to add new Gems to my EduGems website. Since last newsletter the site has now reached 125 Gems! Below are the newest ones added to the site:
  • 💡 PBL Generator - Design Project-Based Learning (PBL) units that prioritize student agency, sustained inquiry, and real-world connections
  • 🎚️ Reading Level Analyzer - Determine the reading level of a text and help adapt the material as needed to make it appropriate for your students
  • 🏛️ Gallery Walk Activity - Design engaging, interactive Gallery Walk activities where students move around the classroom to explore bite-sized texts, images, and primary sources
  • 🗨️ Number Talk Activity - Design engaging, 5- to 15-minute daily "Number Talk" routines where students mentally solve a problem and discuss their strategies

🎬 Google Vids Screen Recorder

I am always on the lookout for free tools that allow you to create video recordings. These tools are great for educators to record tutorials, feedback, and quick responses, and for students to use for explaining their understanding. Recently Google launched a new free Chrome Extension for screen recording. Here's how it works:
  • Install the Google Vids Screen Recorder extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  • Click on the extension and choose whether you want to record your screen, your screen and camera, just your camera, or just audio.
  • Next choose if you want to record your entire desktop, a specific window, or just your current tab.
  • Then record your content, pausing and restarting as needed.
  • You can record up to 30 minutes per recording.
  • When done, review your clip and then share by copying a link to your video.
  • If needed, you can jump over to Google Vids for advanced editing.

❓ Ask Ellis

I recently came across a new AI-powered tool called "Ellis" from the Children’s Health Council that helps support educators as they address learning, behavior, and emotional challenges with their students.

The tool is free for educators to help you de-escalate a tense moment, rethink a stuck routine for a reluctant reader or disengaged teen, or support a student showing stress or anxiety.

Ellis gets its information from resources provided by trusted partners with expertise in mental health, learning differences and education. Each partner undergoes a vetting process to ensure that their content is evidence-aligned. Content is cited at the end of each suggestion with links to the original source.

⚡️ Font Bolt

I am a sucker for fonts! Fun fonts can spice up a slideshow and breathe new life into a document. Over the years I have shared lots of great font resources including Google Fonts, Text Giraffe, Font Meme, and Font Space. Recently I came across another one to add to the collection - the Font Bolt website.

Font Bolt has loads of fonts and styles to imitate those used in movies, TV shows, games, logos, and more. You simply pick a style, type in your text, and it will generate the image you can download and use however you need.

🚨 Factile

April means one thing for most K-12 teachers: review season. Fitting everything in before state tests while keeping students focused is one of the hardest stretches of the year.

Factile turns that review time into something students actually look forward to.

Build a complete Jeopardy-style review game in minutes with AI AutoGen. One question set powers 6 different game modes, so you can keep review sessions feeling fresh all the way to test day.
  • 🤖 AI Game Creation — a full Jeopardy board in minutes
  • 📳 Virtual Buzzers — phones/laptops become game show buzzers
  • 🏆 6 Game Modes — fresh games in every class
  • 📚 Question Banks — mix and vary games so every review feels fresh
See why Factile is trusted by over 5,400 school districts! Learn More!
