Announcing Poems Too Silly To Say

Over the years I have shared lots of EdTech resources for learning about poetry, as well as creating poetry. For example, I recently shared a post about poetry tools, resources, and a contest for National Poetry Month.

As much as I enjoy sharing resources about poetry, what I love even more is writing my own poetry, especially humorous poems. Through much of my life I have enjoyed writing funny poems for myself, and then for my daughter and step-sons, and now for my two grandchildren.

I am so excited to announce that I will be publishing a book with many of my favorite silly poems that I have written!

The book is called “Poems Too Silly To Say” and will contain 20 of my favorite poems that I have written, as well as full-color illustrations for each poem, hand-drawn by my daughter, Christina Terhune, who is an amazing artist!

See below for all of the details about this upcoming book, as well as how you can stay connected to the progress on this project, and how you can share this information with others.

📗 Book Details

Here are some key bits of information about this upcoming book:
  • The book will be titled “Poems Too Silly To Say”.
  • It will contain 20 of my favorite poems that I have written over the years.
  • Each poem will be accompanied by a full-color illustration hand-drawn by my daughter, Christina Terhune.
  • The reading level for the poems will span from 6 to 12 years old in general, although younger children will love to have the poems read to them.
  • The poems will engage and inspire students with humor, creativity, surprises, new vocabulary words, and more puns than should be legally allowed.
  • Topics explored include square cats, invisible poodles, bad mittens, a love seat, a book club, an unusual way to play a piano, a hirsute suit, and much more!
  • We are aiming to release the book after the summer, around September or October of 2023.
  • The book will be available for purchase through Amazon, as well as directly through me, including bulk purchase options.
  • In addition to the book, there will be online educational resources and activities to go along with many of the poems.
  • This may just be “Volume 1” with more books in the series to come in the future.

There will be lots and lots of information to come in the next few months. In the meantime I would love it if folks could do two things…
