My MACUL 2024 Sessions

I am excited and honored to once again be presenting at the MACUL 2024 Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 13th through 15th.

I always look forward to an opportunity to see old friends, make new friends, share some ideas, and learn so many new things from others.

🏫 Going Deeper with Google Classroom

  • Description: So you have a basic comfort level with Google Classroom but wonder what other features and options there are to make your class even better? In this session we dig into topics you may not have fully explored yet including Practice Sets, YouTube Interactive Questions, Topics, Rubrics, Originality Reports, Comment Banks, To-do List, Notifications, Classroom Mobile App, Exporting Grades, Guardian Summaries, End-of-year Cleanup, Copying a Class, Questions, Quiz Assignments, and more!



📊 Google Sheets for Educators: From Data Noob to Nerd

  • Description: Google Sheets is easily one of the most powerful tools in the Google Workspace suite of programs. Unfortunately many people can feel intimidated by spreadsheets and all of their features. In this session we will take the mystery out of Google Sheets as we cover topics including view options, freezing rows and columns, sorting data, filtering data, formulas, charts and graphs, sparklines, conditional formatting, data validation, pivot tables, mail merge, and more.

✨ The "Gem in AI" - Google AI Tools for Education

  • Description: Google has long been a leader when it comes to creating and using artificial intelligence in practical ways. In this session we will explore a wide range of Google tools that incorporate generative AI including Google Gemini, NotebookLM, Search Generative Experience, integrations in Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, Search and more! See how these tools can be used by teachers and students.



🧔 Hipster Google: Tools You Probably Never Heard Of

  • Description: Everyone knows about Google Docs, Gmail, Search, and other common Google tools. But there are also loads of smaller, lesser-known, but powerful tools that can be used for teaching and learning. Learn about 70+ hidden gems such as nGram, Trends, AutoDraw, Chrome Music Lab, Toontastic, Landlines, Reverse Image Search, Instant Search Cards, Semantris, Art Palette, Timelapse, Interview Warmup, GameSnacks, Data GIF Maker and more (List subject to change based on how cool and unknown the tools remain.)

🧰 The AI Toolbox: Best AI Tools for Schools

  • Description: ChatGPT and Gemini are wonderful, but what other AI tools are available? Thankfully there are many educational AI resources that build on top of these models with tools that are free, provide extra functionality and features, and make the process easier and more convenient for educators. In this session we will explore many of these tools including EduaideAI, Diffit, Twee, MagicSchoolAI, Conker, Curipod, Almanack, QuestionWell, Brisk, Goblin Tools, SchoolAI, Mizou, EnlightenAI, Snorkl, Sorcerer, and more.

  • Description: Take a tour of Expo Hall with me. You will visit several of my favorite vendors and I will tell you all about them. Come and get the inside scoop!

🧩 Excellent Extensions for Chrome
  • Time: 11:30 AM - 12:30 AM
  • Location: DeVos Place, Ballroom D

  • Description: Web extensions provide extra features, tools, and options for the Chrome browser. Learn how to find, install, and use extensions from the Chrome Web Store, and then explore over 150 recommendations. Hands-on demonstrations will be done for selected extensions, from tried and true tools to my newest discoveries.
