EdTech Links of the Week - 1-22-24

Each week I keep an eye out for the latest edtech resources through blogs, social media, podcasts, videos, user groups, and more. I then try to reshare these resources in many ways.

One way I share these is here on the blog in these "EdTech Links of the Week" posts. See below to explore the latest batch of resources, and be sure to share with others who may benefit.

If you want to make sure you don't miss new resources, you can:

And as always, please let me know of any resources that you recommend. I would love to learn from you!

This week I have 3 resources from around the Internet and 2 resources from my blog.

🎞️ Slide Slide GIF
  • "Slide Slide GIF" is a free add-on for Google Slides that converts your slides into an animated GIF that you can then use anywhere.
  • Simply launch the add-on, choose the size for the GIF and how many seconds to delay between each slide, and the add-on will create the animated GIF for you to download.
  • And yes, I used "Slide Slide GIF" to create the animated GIF below!

🕵️ Brisk Teaching "Inspect Writing" tool
  • Worried that students are using AI to write their essays?
  • Brisk Teaching has added a new feature to their Chrome extension that makes it easier than ever to check.
  • The "Inspect Writing" tool provides a detailed letter-by-letter playback of the writing process, as well as any large copy/pastes that students did, so you can see what they did and didn't write.
  • It also shows any comments you left, so you can see how the students revised their work based on your feedback.

☂️ Canopy Directory
  • Looking for recommendations for the best web-based tools for schools?
  • Canopy Directory is a collection of web-based tools for educators curated by the team at Canopy Education.
  • Search by type of tool, by trending tools, by the newest tools, or just browse all of them.
  • Each tool has a helpful write up to explain what the tool does, pricing, training materials, and data policies.

✨ Google Duet AI for Schools
  • If you haven't heard of Duet AI, it is a suite of AI tools from Google that integrate directly with the Google Workspace products such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, Meet, and more.
  • I recently was fortunate to be able to interview Vivek Chachcha who is a Product Manager for Google Workspace for Education and who works directly with Duet AI for education.
  • We chatted all about this new tool including current features, new options coming soon, how educators are using it, and how your school can try it out.
  • To learn all about Duet AI for schools, check out the recorded interview and all the details in my blog post.

▶️ Google AI for Schools YouTube Shorts Series
  • Google has recently posted a series of YouTube Shorts all about using AI in education for teaching, learning, saving time, and more.
  • I am extra excited because I was able to be in two of the videos!
  • See my blog post for more details and how to watch these helpful YouTube Shorts.
