Google has been very active in the AI space as well with their development of Google Bard, NotebookLM, and much more.
Recently Google has launched Duet AI for Google Workspace, one of their most powerful and ambitious artificial intelligence projects.
If you haven't heard of Duet AI, it is a suite of AI tools from Google that integrate directly with the Google Workspace products such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, Meet, and more.
Recently I was fortunate to be able to interview Vivek Chachcha who is a Product Manager for Google Workspace for Education and who works directly with Duet AI for education. We chatted all about this new tool including current features, new options coming soon, how educators are using it, and how your school can try it out.

With Duet AI in Google Docs you can:
- Use AI to write something new
- Use AI to rewrite existing text, including summarize, bulletize, elaborate, shorten, rephrase, and change tone
- Proofread your writing including spelling, grammar, wording, conciseness, active voice, and more
- Create images in Docs
- Reference your Drive files or Gmail to generate content in Docs

💰 Duet AI Costs
- Duet AI requires a separate license to access.
- Duet AI is only available for Workspace customers, including any of the tiers of Workspace for Education. Duet AI is not available for personal Gmail accounts.
- Licenses are purchased per user, although there is no minimum amount required.
- Licenses can be purchased per month or per year.
Duet AI costs:
- $30 per user per month when purchased for a full year.
- $36 per user per month when purchased on a monthly basis.
Google Workspace administrators can reach out directly to your Google Workspace for Education reseller to get more details and purchase licenses.
✈️ AI Pilot Program
- For a great way to stay up to date with the latest AI developments in the Google products, there is a new AI track of the Google for Education Pilot Program.
- The pilot program gives educators early access to new AI features to test them out and provide feedback.
- This feedback can help identify bugs, see how the tools are being used, and help improve them for schools.
