EdTech Cool Tool - CK-12 Flexi

This post is Day 11 of my "Cool Tools 2023" series where we are exploring some of the year's best tools for teaching and learning.

This year we are focusing on artificial intelligence tools and how they can be used in schools.

💪 CK-12 Flexi


Flexi is a free AI-powered digital tutor for students from CK-12 for MS and HS science and math.
  • Provides immediate feedback to help students learn complex topics with real world applications.
  • Answers students’ questions and provides interactive examples to help them understand the underlying concepts.
  • Tests students’ knowledge of a concept by giving them relevant questions at their skill level.
  • Supports students with the right amount of help via hints, content recommendations, and reinforcement of foundational concepts.

If you are not familiar with CK-12 - ck12.org - they have been around for a long time and provide free and customizable K-12 open educational resources aligned to state curriculum standards, including online textbooks, virtual simulations, digital study guides, and more.

Flexi can be accessed by students in two ways:

Option 1
While inside Math or Science CK-12 FlexBooks (their online interactive textbooks) at ck12.org/fbbrowse


Option 2
While using the Homework Help Q&A site at ck12.org/flexi/subjects



Here are some of the features of the Flexi tool for students...

Answers Questions
Flexi answers students’ questions and provides interactive examples to help them understand the underlying concepts.


Checks Understanding
Flexi tests students’ knowledge of a concept by giving them relevant questions at their skill level.



Helps with Assignments
Flexi supports students with the right amount of help via hints, content recommendations, and reinforcement of foundational concepts, helping fill knowledge gaps and improve assignment scores.



Helps with Self-Reflection
Flexi helps students self-reflect to answer questions like: How am I doing? How can I improve? What am I missing?
