EdTech Cool Tool - Curipod

This post is Day 20 of my "Cool Tools 2023" series where we are exploring some of the year's best tools for teaching and learning.

This year we are focusing on artificial intelligence tools and how they can be used in schools.

You can access all of the cool tools in the series as they come out at bit.ly/cool-tools-23 and in this Google Slideshow.

For this entry in the series we are taking a look at: Curipod

See below for details, directions, uses, and links for this artificial intelligence resource. If you have used this tool, please consider sharing your experiences, how you have used it, tips, tricks, and more.

🤔 Curipod

curipod.com

Curipod is an AI-powered tool for creating interactive lessons.
  • The lesson will be in the format of a slideshow that students can join and interact with.
  • You can create the slideshow manually your self.
  • Or you can use the built-in AI generators to help you create it.

Here is how Curipod works...

Create a Lesson
  • After logging into Curipod, click the "Create lesson" button.
  • If you want to create the lesson completely by yourself you can use the "Create your own" tab where you can manually add:
    • Activities - Open question, Drawing, Poll, Wordcloud, AI feedback
    • Content - Header, Images, Text, Media, etc.

However one of the most powerful features of Curipod is the ability to use AI to help generate the lesson.
  • To get help from the AI, click "Generate with AI".
  • This will give you a very large list of AI generators that you can use as needed to build your lesson.

Some of the categories and examples include:
  • Introduction - Uncover prior knowledge, Check in, Real world examples, Lesson hook, Facts
  • Exits - Exit ticket, Checkout poll
  • Content - Concept explainer, Fantastic Frayer Fun, Discussion questions, Multiple choice
  • ELA - Word of the day, Paragraph of the week, Compare and contrast, Connect the text
  • Personalized feedback - Sketch and share, Write-feedback-repeat
  • SEL - Brain break, SEL reflection poll
  • Fun - Would you rather, Fun writing prompt, Did you know?

To use any of these AI generators, simply click on the generator and then fill in the details requested.
  • This might include topic, grade level, objectives, and such.
  • For example, we could use the "Full lesson" generator to create an entire interactive lesson for us. In this case we would fill in:
    • Content or skill
    • Grade
    • Learning objective and standards

Finally we just click the "Do magic" button and Curipod will generate the interactive lesson for us!

At this point we can continue editing and building the lesson as needed including:
  • Manually adding activities
  • Having AI generate more activities
  • Manually editing existing activities
  • Deleting activities

Running a Lesson

After you have created a lesson with Curipod, you can run it with your students.
  • Click the "Present" button in the top right.
  • Copy the "join link" and give that to your students to join the session.
  • Or give your students the code to type in at curi.live to join the session.
  • Now as you go through the slideshow, the students will be able to participate in each interactive activity.
